Can I Use a VA Loan Near JBSA?
Yes, and it is one of the best benefits you have. VA loans require $0 down payment, charge no private mortgage insurance, and offer some of the lowest interest rates available. JBSA serves over 80,000 military and civilian employees across 3 bases: Lackland, Randolph, and Fort Sam Houston.
How Much Do I Need for a Down Payment?
It depends on your loan program. VA loans are $0 down for eligible military buyers. USDA loans are also $0 down in eligible areas. Conventional loans start at 3% down, and FHA loans require 3.5%. Texas also offers down payment assistance through TSAHC and TDHCA that can cover part or all of your down payment. Jonathan will help you figure out which path saves you the most.
